Questions about staff augmentation
How is staff augmentation different from hiring a dedicated developer?
Staff augmentation is designed for companies with an existing engineering organisation that needs to scale capacity — typically across multiple roles simultaneously. A dedicated developer is a single engineer embedded in your team long-term, usually for a startup or a company extending a small team. The underlying model is similar; the difference is in scale, the buyer, and the relationship to your existing organisation. If you have a CTO or VP Eng managing a team of 10+, augmentation is the right frame. If you're a founder building your first team, dedicated developers is the better starting point.
What is the minimum engagement?
Minimum 80 hours per month per engineer, on a three-month initial commitment. This is the minimum that allows meaningful ramp-up and contribution. After the initial three months, engagements continue month-to-month with 30 days notice to scale up, scale down, or end.
Can you augment an existing team mid-sprint?
Yes. We have done this many times. Our engineers are used to joining active sprints, reading existing codebases, and becoming productive within the first week. We do a two-hour codebase walkthrough on day one to compress ramp-up time. Most clients see their first meaningful PR within three to five days of onboarding.
How do you handle intellectual property and code ownership?
All IP produced during the engagement is assigned to you under the MSA we sign before any work begins. We do not retain rights to client code, do not reuse work across clients, and do not maintain copies of client codebases after engagement end. Every engineer signs your NDA as part of their individual placement agreement.
What timezone do your engineers work in?
India Standard Time (IST, GMT+5:30), with flexibility to shift hours for US or EU overlap. IST naturally overlaps with US East mornings (8am–12pm EST) and European afternoons. For West Coast US clients, our engineers start earlier to extend the overlap window. We discuss timezone requirements during scoping and match engineers accordingly.
Do you offer a trial period or replacement guarantee?
We offer a two-week trial period at the start of each engagement. If an engineer placed with your team is not working out — for any reason — we replace them within five business days at no additional cost. After the trial period, replacements take longer (typically two to three weeks to screen and place a new candidate) but are still offered at no cost if the issue is performance-related.
